Don't fear failure. Don't be afraid to fly. Be nice to nerds: they make cool stuff. Tobacco can make vaccines. Oh, and DARPA is a "magical place."
Wow, is SeeYou ever feature-rich. You can re-fly your entire route with flight paths color-coded by altitude, ground speed, and about 10 other things. It's got an elevation profile, sectionals, airspace, 3D terrain, variable playback speeds. If only it had better satellite imagery and 3D buildings like Google Earth. Oh well. Very fun to use. Thanks to Cumulus Soaring, Inc., I have plenty of SeeYou video tutorials to watch.
I just revisited the iHud site and it turns out there's an updated app. Yay! Check it out. Lots more screenshots to look at. Download it from the App Store. $6.
CloudAhoy rocks! I'm writing a research paper on why capturing GPS flight data is a good idea for post-flight debriefing with students and am detailing why importing flight data into Google Earth is too slow. The ideal would be to hit record on your smartphone, fly, then send the data to a server that analyzes the flight and generates a video (by the time you walk back to the office), and review the video immediately after the flight with your CFI. 1-2-3 easy, like that. Well, someone's done it. Thank you CloudAhoy. I'm looking forward to using the app.
BMW Group Developing Augmented Reality Windshield Displays
Though you may not want AR attached to a vehicle or device. It would be nicer in a pair of glasses. Google's already all over that. How did Daniel Barcay do it? I know how to create Google Earth (GE) tours using GPS tracks, but how do you get GE to fly the tracks at altitude and show your 3D aircraft in the video? Dan, share your secrets.

It's a bird? It's a plane? It's a troop carrier? The anime movie, Vexille, has some interesting ideas about helicopters. Their version of a heavy-lift helicopter looks like a cross between a CH-47 and a seagull. What about drag? Isn't that Aerodynamics 101? What possible purpose could those metal feathers serve?
